TRDRP transforms tobacco excise taxes into cutting edge research to reduce commercial tobacco use and tobacco-related diseases and to inform public policy that benefits all Californians.
TRDRP is no longer accepting Letters of Intent (LOI) for the 2026 Calls for Applications. Only those LOIs invited to Full Application are eligible to submit an application. The full application deadline is Thursday, October 30, 2025 at 12:00 PM (Noon) Pacific Time.

Principal Investigator Eligibility Criteria
- Investigators from California not-for-profit organizations are eligible for TRDRP funding, including but not limited to colleges, universities, hospitals, laboratories, research institutions, local health departments, community-based organizations, voluntary health agencies, health maintenance organizations and tobacco control organizations.
- Given their unique position in promoting community health, for-profit community-based organizations are eligible to serve as Co-PIs on TRDRP partnered awards.
- U.S. citizenship is not a requirement for eligibility.
- Investigators at institutions outside of California are not eligible to apply for TRDRP funding.
