CDE and TRDRP release a special RFA to evaluate the
‘ I Decide’: Teen Tobacco Smoking Cessation Program
The California of Department of Education (CDE) and the Tobacco-Related Disease Research Program (TRDRP) of the University of California, Office of the President, are requesting proposals to conduct a rigorous evaluation of the I Decide: Teen Tobacco Cessation Program (‘I Decide’ Program). This program is currently used in a number of California school districts. The ‘I Decide’ Program may be more actively promoted statewide if it is determined to be effective in reducing adolescent smoking rates.
A Total of $300,000 over a period of 3 years is available.
CDE/TRDRP is looking for individuals, institutions, and agencies familiar with school-based cessation programs to apply. This RFA will be scientifically peer-reviewed as a School-Academic Research Award (SARA) by the TRDRP Social and Participatory Research Study Section, thus applicants must demonstrate the participatory and collaborative nature of their proposals.
Applications will be due on January 20, 2005; peer reviewed in April; a winner chosen in May; and funding available starting July 1, 2005.
